it stretched long above her.
waves rolling. crests building. receding.
an ocean of another world. a world above.
she sighed and leaned deeper into the green grass. closing her eyes, she dreamed of ships that broke the tide. sea creatures & monsters below that swam and twirled and danced in the golden blue depths.
she wondered to where the ships carried their load. if princes and princess lounged on the bows. or if they were laden with precious cargo from an exotic island.
she imagined herself diving in, and felt the cool water envelop her. felt the silken texture as she swept her hand through it. felt her long auburn hair float loosely.
smiling she reopened her eyes slowly. the cool grass tickled her arms and more waves rolled in the ocean above her.
and as she stood to leave, she swears she spied a mermaid dive into fathoms.
